How to Install Door Stops for Frameless Shower Doors

Jun 02, 2020 Leave a message

Frameless glass shower doors look elegant and make a shower appear larger. Installing hardware on the glass door generally requires boring a hole through the glass to secure the hardware with bolts. This is not the case with certain types of hardware, including a doorstop. A doorstop keeps the frameless door from passing the threshold and entering the shower stall. Installing the doorstop is vital to ensuring the safety of the glass-enclosed shower.

1. Pour isopropyl alcohol onto a lint-free cloth until the cloth is damp.

2. Open the frameless door. Wipe the damp cloth along the raw edge of the door. Ensure both sides of the door are clean. Do not touch the glass.

3. Squeeze a small amount of silicone caulk into the opening of a doorstop.

4. Align the doorstop opening with the cleaned edge of the door glass. Move the doorstop to the required height. Push the doorstop firmly toward the glass until it pops into place.

5. Thread a nylon-tipped bolt into the threaded opening of the doorstop. Tighten the bolt head to lock the doorstop in place, using a Phillips screwdriver. Allow the caulk to cure for 24 hours before using the shower.

6. Install the remaining doorstop using the method in Steps 1 to 5, if required.
