Tidy Up First
When deep-cleaning your bathroom, you should start by removing all items from the shelves, countertops, and shower. Remove any curtains, shower curtains, area rugs, and dirty towels and start a load of laundry. Place them somewhere outside of the bathroom so you will have a clean slate to work with. This does take a bit of extra time, but it will make it much easier to do a thorough cleaning.
Do a wipe-down
It only takes a couple of minutes, but wiping down high-traffic surfaces once a day can make a big difference in blocking the spread of germs. Spray your cleaner onto a cloth or paper towel and wipe down all areas in your bathroom. Make sure to do a careful wipe-down of the most-touched areas: doorknobs, light switches, toilet and faucet handles, etc. You should also try to buy disinfectants that advertise being able to kill 99.9 percent of germs. If you don’t have cleaning sprays or wipes, however, washing with soapy water is a good alternative. Although it won’t be quite as effective, scrubbing with soapy water will still be useful in removing bacteria from your bathroom.
Dust
Dust is a pain to deal with, but inevitable. It’s well known that dust contains everything from animal dander to dead skin cells, so staying on top of it is in your best interest. When dusting your bathroom, start at the ceiling, eliminating any cobwebs, and work your way to the floor. The best way to keep dust at bay is by keeping the ceiling and walls as clean as possible. If you have ceiling fans or light fixtures in your bathroom, make sure to wipe them down as well. Try to sweep the floor once a week, and tackle low-to-the-ground nooks and crannies while you’re at it.
